About Sacred Circles Yurt

About Sacred Circles

Sacred Circles is located just 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa in an authentic Mongolian Yurt on a beautiful piece of country side with gardens surrounding the property.

Sacred Circles began with the idea to create a safe space for women to gather, share, love, and grow in a supportive and nurturing environment. A place where we can be our true selves. Where we can let down our walls and defences and embrace our wild, unique & beautiful nature. Sacred Circles is about creating a community of like-minded women interested in personal growth and development who are committed to living authentically.

The Sacred Circle represents unity, infinity, connection, wholeness, and inclusion. Throughout history, women have gathered in circle to council one another, support one another, and to celebrate and honour our connection to nature and the cycles of life and the evolving self. The sacred circle provides a safe space to explore, share, and grow.

Honoring the directions of the Sacred Circle is a widespread spiritual practice in ancient and contemporary Nature wisdom traditions. For many, honouring the directions is an essential component of all rituals. It is a way to create and to connect with sacred space. It is also a way of communing with Nature, honouring the cycles, and viewing life.

The Sacred Circle with its directions is called by some, the "Magic Circle," or “The Wheel of the Year”, and by others, the "Medicine Wheel." Some traditions emphasize the four compass directions of the Circle. Others work with the four compass points plus a central point representing unity. Qualities, images, colors, and other symbolic associations with the directions vary from path to path, but the idea of Sacred Circle as a place of balancing, healing, and wholeness extends across traditions.

The Sacred Circle Yurt was hand made in Mongolia by a gentleman named Baata and his extended family. Yurts have been used as homes in Mongolia for thousands of years in one of the harshest climates in the world. They have stood the test of time and are steeped in rich culture and traditions.

The materials are natural and organic with hand painted detail work throughout. There is a thick layer of sheep wool that insulates the entire structure.

The toono (dome) is the most sacred part of the yurt connecting the earth and the sky. It is truly a work of art!

The yurt is 26 ft’ in diameter and features a wall of windows and doors overlooking the expansive farming fields that can be opened to allow a cross breeze through. The toono covering the top can also be removed to enjoy the sky and allow for ventilation. It has an insulated floor and a wood stove to keep you cozy and warm in the winter and plenty of air flow and ventilation in the summer.
